embryo at 40 days
This paper is concerned with the period of human prenatal development during the first 40 days. This paper reviews the hadith of the Prophet which describes the embryo in the first 40 days (narrated in Saheeh Muslim and Saheeh Al-Bukhari):
In every one of you, all components of your creation are collected together in your mother’s womb by forty days…
The paper also reviews the views of Muslim scholars in the light of philology, semantics, and the principles of religious text exegesis. Then, the relevant established scientific facts are underlined and the surprising aspects of the hadith is highlighted.
